Cinderella Bakery

Cinderella Bakery

Piroshki to the People

Objective

Since 1953, Cinderella Bakery has been a beloved fixture in San Francisco’s Richmond District, a neighborhood bakery with deep roots in Russian and Eastern European traditions. But while its pastries, breads, and dumplings remained timeless, the brand identity had not kept pace. The bakery needed a refresh that would honor its rich heritage while appealing to a new generation of food lovers and tourists alike. The challenge was to modernize without erasing history; to retain warmth and authenticity while introducing visual clarity and broader market appeal.

The Solution

We worked closely with the bakery’s owners to reimagine the brand from the ground up.

Barretto-Co. began by refining the logo, drawing inspiration from traditional Eastern European design motifs while simplifying it for modern use. The updated identity strikes a balance between classic and contemporary, rooted in nostalgia yet ready for modern packaging, signage, and digital use. We also established a playful but elegant color palette and typography system that balanced old-world charm with fresh energy. Branded patterns, icons, and illustrations were introduced to elevate packaging and in-store visuals.

Our work encompassed menus, merchandise, uniforms, signage, and a new website experience that enhanced accessibility and online ordering capabilities.

Impact

The refreshed brand breathed new life into a neighborhood favorite, helping Cinderella Bakery expand its local audience while establishing itself as a must-visit culinary destination in San Francisco.

Loyal patrons embraced the update, while new customers were drawn in by the bakery’s story, visuals, and unforgettable treats.
